Why persuasive copy?

I think it is important that we answer this question by first addressing the difference between content and copy. Copywriting is used interchangeably with the term “content writing,” but that’s not entirely accurate.  When I got started in the web business 20 years ago, I can remember my clients telling me over and over that they needed "more content" for the site, that it was "too sparse".  To me, the struggle was real, to just put anything up on there site, whether it be words or an image) would be an insult to the time spent designing a fresh clean look.  Cluttering it with space fillers would be a travesty.  This really pushed me past my comfort zone of design into a different zone of creativity, growing my skills in writing persuasive copy. To understand the difference, you need to know what “copy” and “content” are, and why they’re not the same thing.

What is Copywriting?

Copywriting services involve writing copy. Copy applies to anything written with the intention of moving the audience to action. When a copywriter writes copy, they use techniques to persuade the target readers to do something that will profit the brand.

What Is Content Writing?

Content writing involves writing content. Content applies to any piece of text written with the intention to inform, teach, entertain, or guide readers on a particular topic. Now that I have explained the difference...back to answering the question...
"Why persuasive copy?"
Persuasive copywriting is the switch that opens that electric current to power your business, both online and in print. With the right message, you are connecting that power source or current if you will, to your business.  Although, without the persuasive copy, there is no current, therefore no power...you are in the dark.  You have no visibility for your users (clientele), and in turn, they cannot see your business. I’m just here to flip the light switch on… for your customers and ultimately for your business. I take information and make it tangible, I translate your business into a language they understand and can relate to.  You are both then speaking the same language, one that often gets mis-interupted or lost in this field.  By becoming the translator, I help them engage and commit to a future relationship with your business, ensuring that they return again and again.  In doing so, I help you communicate your value, connect with your customers, and increase your revenue.

Hello there, I’m Alice Brown, a copywriter, graphic artist and web designer. I started a career in the Graphic Art and Web Design world over 20 years ago. Throughout my years of graphic and web design, I often found myself being recruited by my clients to step outside of my comfort zone within creativity, to write content for them.  I can remember my clients struggling to describe the very business they created. I can remember statements like “we just need more content” and wanting more but really struggling to find someone who could adequately nail it. It was not long before I discovered my niche in writing copy and just how important it was to apply persuasive copy to the design work I was already doing. It soon became a passion of mine to adequately deliver my clients message in both design and writing.

So…why am I different from other copywriters?

I will do what it takes to give your web copy, articles, and blogs a voice. I will research every topic until it’s completely understood and never deliver content that causes the reader to disconnect. The content I deliver will captivate and engage.
